The final straight

Barça in fine form as they saw off one of their toughest challenges on the final haul beating Valencia 0-2 in convincing style. The Madrid also on form seeing off the lowly Racing Santander 5-0 at home, even Princess Raul was back on top - though the lad Owen showed the way.
Racism isn't only limited to football round here, unfortunately. A race riot involving 200 young madrileños seeking out immigrants to give them a good thumping last weekend has been reported mutedly and curiously hasn't appeared in the international press as far as we know. These charming characters beating up mothers in front of their terrified children. It appears to have been orchestrated by the same scum that organise on the terraces - ultra sur madridistas, for example. The politics of denial trundles on regardless - more of the same to come if nothing changes in the mentality of the citizens of this fair city.

Well Steve, that's that, thank goodness; un mauvais demi-heure there earlier on, but home and dry. I suppose the blog will go into hibernation till the season starts up again?

Actually, I hope to continue my campaign against madridismo in all its guises; racism, as we have seen, doesn't take a holiday so I'll be keeping a weather eye out here too.
